Kansas City Live
Welcome to Kansas City! Established as a fur trading post in 1821, Kansas City has played a major role throughout American history as the birthplace for turning ideas into new and exciting adventures.
Not only was the city a gateway for pioneers heading west along the California, Oregon and Santa Fe trails, it also was a location where the seeds of many famous careers were planted. U.S. President Harry Truman, Charlie Parker, Count Basie and Walt Disney spent their early days here. It is even said that Walt Disney first sketched Mickey Mouse in a Kansas City garage.
Today, this large metropolitan area of 1.8 million people is home to many large corporations, including Hallmark Cards, Sprint, Russell Stover Candies, H&R Block, AMC Theatres and American Century.
Known as The City of Fountains, Kansas City has more boulevards than Paris and more fountains than any city but Rome. Here you'll also find everything from classical opera to rock concerts, arts and culture to professional sporting events, world-class museums to car racing - and perhaps best of all: extraordinary barbecue!
